NEW SNOW AND A FIVE METRE SWELL Conditions are setting up nicely for another outrageous Primo Peak to Porridge surf and snow event. The Remarkables has had 20cm of snow on Wednesday with another 20cm forecast in the next 48 hours" says organiser Evan Bloomfield. "At one stage snow was falling at a rate of 5cm an hour". "The boardercross course is setting up real well for Friday and at over 1 km long provides plenty of passing opportunities." Meanwhile on the South Coast a five metre southerly swell is building deep in the southern ocean. "Strong westerlies are forecast for Saturday" says Evan "Not perfect for porridge, but we have plenty of breaks to choose from in the Riverton area." Chris Hogan from Fridge in Invercargill has had heaps of interest from the Invercargill surfing and riding community. A strong contender in previous years Hogan is expected to join local Big Wave hero John "Johnny" Spriggs as two of the leading contenders for the coveted combined surf and snow trophy. Riverton is well represented …. by just one family. The infamous Pou clan is releasing the full quiver with hot junior men surfers Hami and Maru joined by sisters Marama and Pae. At just 13 Pae is a first time and the youngest competitor. The woman's division is looking strong again with National surfer Jess Terrill from Methven, Kath Doer and Leilani Morgan from Christchurch, Jana Gibson from Queenstown and Marama Pou all expected to be highly competitive.
