Last years Primo Peak to Porridge competition proved to be an enormous success with local and international competitors raving about the surf, the trophies, the prizes and the party. "Riverton really turned it on ", says organiser Evan Bloomfield. " We had a clean south ocean swell with perfect offshore wind. The competitors were just blown away with the conditions".

The Primo Peak to Porridge is a great way to combine a classic Boardercross event at Coronet Peak with a surfing session at Porridge in two closely related sports. It is an end of season event where everyone can relax a bit and enjoy the mountain and sea environment without the high anxiety of performance pressure.

A field of about 30 competitors are expected to race it out in a boarder cross on Coronet Peak on Friday 22 September then head down to the infamous Southland surf spot "Porridge" just out of Riverton for the surfing leg on the 23rd of September. "The South Coast offers some of the best surf spots in New Zealand and only two hours from Queenstown snow fields", says Evan.
