Press Release
13 September 2000
"Entries for the Primo Peak to Porridge surf and snow competition are
starting to come in from all corners of the Pacific" says organiser
Evan Bloomfield.
First off the block was Richard Park from Merrimac in Queensland Australia
who entered back in early June. More recently we have Megan Wilson from
Mt Maunganui and Mathew Gray from Colac Bay. The legendary Pou family
from Riverton are out in force with Puke, Haami, Marama and Maru entering.
Haami placed second in the surfing last year and Maru was recently
selected for a New Zealand team to compete in the Gromfest in Queensland.
Evan says " Haami and Maru are strong contenders to place well in the
surfing with some quality time in the water and local Porridge knowledge".They
have had a weekend up at Coronet Peak with the Aparima school to do
two days snowboard practice an a few points in the Boardercross could
see them well placed in the combined.
Early registration is being encouraged with the chance to win the entry
fee of $40 back and the website PrimoPeakToPorridge.com offering the
opportunity to register online. Evan calls it a bit of a "dot com dig".
The website features all the usuals like press releases, schedule of
events, prize lists and results but includes an unusual addition - free
email. "Anyone can log on and chose their own <yourname@PrimoPeakToPorridge.com>
email address" says Evan. "I suspect that anyone actually trying to
type the address might get it wrong a few times but you have to give
these things a go!"
